Singaporean whacks out at Chinese National, Chinese National whacks back.
I was surfing tomorrow.sg, obviously was attracted by this post.
Obviously, I read on. so I clicked the link. And it was a very interesting read. Apparently, the writer was infuriated by another blogger, which is, while appearing scholarly, is in fact, well substianted to support his own agenda, to point out that Chinese Nationals are hated in Singapore. Well, you can check out his post here.
I am not really sure which side to take. I can almost hear Mr. Hon’s haunting words (that’s positive), telling me that the introduction into schools are, as you may guess, great, but hey, I am entitled to my own opinion. Well, here it is. I don’t really think they add to the competition.
Well, you see, I am just the typical student. Whether they come a not, there are already those elite students which are ahead of me, I will just stagnate at that position because, well, they will improve just as fast as me too. Maybe even faster. I am desensitized to competition. (Hence, the lack of exam stress). I have straight-A brothers, so well, my home already exposed me to such pressure. I’m sure Singaporeans are in general, concerned about the challenge the foreign talents post, but if we are to continue to have a outward approach, we are still way behind these foreign nationals. Is it to say that we are to clam up so as to prevent competition from increasing in Singapore?
I think not.
We need to face up to the pressure. The blogger, Terence, who infuriated Zhao Lin, the Chinese National, is probably being not that rational. If the Chinese colleague of his mom took her comission, just report in to the supervisor? Why involve nationalities in a monetary dispute? I bet, if the colleague was a Singaporean, his mom would probably not hesitate to report him/her. Come on, money is intenational. I don’t think I would give in if a westerner or Chinese National actually took my comission. I want my money.
I quote from Terence,

Chinese Nationals seemed to have incurred the wrath of many Singaporeans. Some don’t like the way they talk, some despise their loud mannerisms and incomprehensible accents, and others scorn their ‘uncouth’ behavior and their ruthlessness. Even in NTU, the tidal wave of Chinese Nationals that suddenly flood our halls and our lecture theatres is enough to irk some students.

We go to Western countries, I think that’s what they will think of us too. We should not like you know, whack out at others just because they are in a foreign land and resume their habits. While they should attempt to be assimilated into our country by tweaking their own habits, you can’t possibly attempt to make them change totally in front of their friends of the same nationality. It isn’t natural. It’s erm, me faking an accent after I go to England for 3 years. Yeah. Super unnatural.
Zhao Lin totally rocks. Look at this excerpt.

Thank you so much for giving me the chance to express my opinions on the recent hoo-hah about China exports. I have been eating food made in China for twenty years. (Yes, I still have to eat food made in China even when I am in Singapore.) And my tortoise has been living on food made in China for two years. (Ok. I admit. I purposely fed it with poisonous food made in China because I wanted it to become a TMNT.) And I have been playing with toys made in China ever since I was a kid. (Oh, no! That 1.5-meter Teddy Bear on my bed is made in China too!) AND I AM STILL ALIVE. What a surprise! What a surprise that many China women can live more than 100 years even though they have been eating, drinking, using and wearing China products for their entire life!

Oh come on, I may avoid China products (those kind of super cheap and you know they’re bound to be a scam.), but there are some products from China which are okay. I just think we should avoid those that are, ahem, too good to be true.
Zhao Lin is super humourous. But just a tinge to biased to properly substantiate his arguments.
Well, as I said previously, some forum users are just dumber than dumb, no EQ, nothing up in that space above their eyes except for a dense rock. Look at what this insensitive idiot said.
Yup. Dumb faggot.
I am hereby proud to say my good friend, Shao Fei, is a product of China, and packaged in Singapore.

I do wonder why he always grins like that though. Looks kinda dumb.
